There’s something effortlessly romantic about engagement sessions that feel like a real date — and this Clear Lake, Iowa engagement session was exactly that. When planning their session, they off-handedly mentioned that they fell in love over chic-fil-a dates and trips to her family’s lake house. Fast forward a few months while we waiting for the weather to warm up – and then we did just that!
We kicked things off with a little date, complete with waffle fries and frozen lemonade and a visit from their sweet dog – Moose. The casual start set the tone for the evening — relaxed, joyful, and completely them. These moments are some of my favorite to photograph because they capture connection in its most genuine form. It’s the in-between smiles, the way hands naturally reach for each other, and the comfort that only comes from being with your person.
From there, we made our way to the family lake house as golden hour began to settle in. The lake was calm – a dream setting for couples who love the water, making it a perfect location for a little dip at the very end!
