This is such a special wedding for me! Last year, I photographed Jackson and Mollie’s wedding, and this year it was her twin sisters turn! It’s always such an honor when I shoot more than one wedding in a family! Makala loves winter, and has always dreamed of a winter wedding. June and December are about as opposite as it gets, so Makala decided to bring in winter wedding vibes by having forest green bridesmaids dresses with white accents of babies breath.
Makala and her people got ready at Tucker Hill Vinyards in Hinton, Iowa. The vineyards is a gorgeous location for a wedding that lets the natural beauty of the rolling hills shine. Makala had always wanted to wear her mama’s wedding dress, so they adjusted a few things and it fit her perfectly! She excitedly got her dress, earrings, and shoes on before nervously heading to her first look with David.
David was waiting for his bride in a grove of pine trees – to fit with Makala’s love for winter. They shared the sweetest first look before we headed into a few portraits and then bridal party.
They wed at the church David grew up in. Makala and David were prayed over by their friends before the ceremony, and then it was time! David cried and smiled while his almost-wife walked down the aisle – and then everyone shared a laugh when Makala and her dad shared a high-five after the giving away of the bride.
After the ceremony, we drove over to Makala’s grandma’s house so that her grandma could see Makala in her mama’s wedding dress. Then we headed back to Tucker Hill for the reception!
David and Makala, I’m so thankful for you both! You both share so much joy and laughter and its contagious to those around you. Thank you for your friendship and for asking me to photographing your wedding. Capturing your day was such an honor! Enjoy your blog post.
