I absolutely loved my time with Nick & Alie. They’re such an easy couple to get along with and we got along so well! They’re such kindred spirits and we spent the evening walking around Des Moines – in fact, it was hard to leave because we could have talked for hours more!
They’re such a genuine couple – their love for each other is so pure and sweet – Nick just ADORES Alie and she lights up whenever he’s looking at her. It was such an incredible honor to be able to photograph them and their love. Right off the bat, I found out that they had just gotten a puppy that week… and in typical girl fashion, I melted when they showed me pictures of their tiny girl, Bitsy.
We started out at the Des Moines Art Center Rose Garden and enjoyed walking around and seeing all the gorgeous greens and all the blossoms. These two were up for anything, which is so much fun! At one point, Nick even carried Alie to a stump I had asked them to stand on – and I’m so thankful that he did, because those ended up being some of my favorite photos EVER.
After our time at the garden, we headed over the Grey’s Lake to catch the last bit of light. When I said they were up for anything, I really did mean anything. There was a patch of daffodils and some gorgeous trees right on the outskirts of a construction zone. Unfortunately, it was on the other side of the barrier. These two didn’t even blink an eye when I asked if they were willing to hop over it and grab some quick photos there – it was so worth it too!
Anywhoo…. I’ll stop gushing and let you see for yourself how cute and fun these two are!
Abbie's interest in architecture made The Salisbury House in Des Moines the obvious choice for her summer portrait session!
Sam and Abbie's Altoona, IA engagement session at Pine Hollow Stables was a horse lovers dream. We spent the whole evening walking around the pasture and even visited the spot where they got engaged!
