This is a pretty special blog post for me to write – and definitely the hardest one yet. Why?
Well, do you see that man? That’s my built-in best friend, adventure buddy, and my favorite enemy growning up. That man… he is a rock and loves his people hardcore. He’s always up for climbing mountains and doing things, and he has such a funny, sarcastic streak that you can’t help but love him. That man in the photo is my brother.
When Megan entered the picture, She asked Luke out on a date in the most obvious of ways: she gave him some ribs and then asked him out! He said yes and that was the first of many dates. Megan is so good for Luke. Not many people are as funny as Luke, but Megan is! Not only that, but she loves him, encourages him, and most importantly, she points him to Jesus.
On Luke & Megan’s wedding day, we all prayed for no rain – and God kept it away! It was a gorgeous *hot* fall day! Luke and I started the day by going to look at a couple barns someone in their church owned. They were exactly what we had been hoping for and we were so excited to use them for backgrounds in photos! I then went to Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, WI where the girls were all arriving and starting to get ready. Once the finishing touches were done to hair, Megan went outside to see Luke for the first time. We got her dress fluffed and everything was perfect. Then Megan said, “Psttt…. Anna. Come here!” She had such a sparkle in her eyes as she laughingly pointed out a caterpillar waltzing up Luke’s pant leg. It got removed and then Luke turned around. I think in that moment, he had a vocabulary of one word: Wow! and I couldn’t have agreed with him more.
From there, we headed to the barns and took more photos before the bridal party showed up. We were so grateful that there was no rain, but with the lack of rain also came a muggy, midwestern heat. I was so impressed with this group! They were total rockstars and finished their photos in record time! Then it was back to the church for family photos before the ceremony.
Soon it was starting time and the sound of a flute floated through the air as Megan walked down the aisle to a classic from Emma (the 2009 version, for anyone wondering 😉 ) Luke was grinning ear to ear and the excitement was palpable. Soon, they were announced as husband and wife and walked back down the aisle beaming.
Luke & Megan. I’m beyond excited for you as you start this new, exciting chapter of your life together. Your day was such a blessing and honor to be a part of. Thank you for trusting me as your photographer. Matthew and I are glad that we have front row seats to watch exactly how God leads you and uses you. That’s about as many words as I can come up with – shocker, I know. 😉
Love, your little sister
