Outdoor July Weddings are known to be hot, and that is why Josh & KD decided to get married at 10 AM on a gorgeous summer day! It ended up being a beautiful, slightly warm (but not hot) summer mornings. They both got ready in an old, white church across the street from the empty lot they would marry in. It was clear that KD had carefully planned all of the details, in fact, she even got Josh the sweetest handkerchief that read, “For happy tears”.
When everything was ready, the viola and cello started playing and the doors opened…and it was a good thing KD had given Josh a handkerchief. They chose to see each other for the first time while KD was walking down the aisle, and it was the sweetest moment to witness. When KD’s daddy announced them “Mr. and Mrs.”, they could not hold back the smiles and it was obvious that they had been waiting for this day for some time.
We took bridal party photos and family photos quickly, while everyone was going through the brunch line and then, after a few more festivities, Josh & KD drove away in KD’s mustang. The car got about 4 blocks before it died, but KD got it going again and we headed off to take their couples photos. As KD kept saying, “Today is perfect!”
Josh and KD, Congratulations!! I could not be more excited for the two of you! I hope you enjoy seeing your wedding day from my perspective!

Abbie's interest in architecture made The Salisbury House in Des Moines the obvious choice for her summer portrait session!
Sam and Abbie's Altoona, IA engagement session at Pine Hollow Stables was a horse lovers dream. We spent the whole evening walking around the pasture and even visited the spot where they got engaged!
