Y’all! What a wedding day! I’m so excited to share this one with you! Due to lots of crazy circumstances, we never got to meet before their wedding day! When meeting EJ and Kali after flying in, I was instantly struck by how genuine these two are! They were incredibly hospitable and so sweet!
When Friday arrived, it was wedding day!! All the girls got ready at Kali’s parent’s house. It was so relaxed and fun… exactly how the morning of your wedding should be! Once hair and makeup was done and all the finishing touches applied, we headed to a park to meet EJ for the first look.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a groom light up THAT MUCH when he saw his bride. They were both glowing with so much happiness that it was contagious! We wandered around the park and took photos with the bridal party and once everyone had sweated almost more than possible, we all headed to get ready for the ceremony.
My favorite parts of the wedding were when EJ surprised Kali with her wedding ring! She had seen the engagement ring, and left EJ with the job of figuring out her band. He did such a great job at choosing a unique design! I also loved that instead of a bouquet toss, they attached long ribbons to the bouquet and had each single person hold one. Then they blindfolded EJ, handed him a pair of scissors and the group walked in circles around Kali. EJ had to find the ribbons and then cut them off. The last ribbon left won the bouquet! It was such a fun spin on a timeless tradition!
EJ + Kali, thank you for welcoming me with open arms and trusting me with photographing your beautiful wedding day! I’m so thankful for your friendship!
Abbie's interest in architecture made The Salisbury House in Des Moines the obvious choice for her summer portrait session!
Sam and Abbie's Altoona, IA engagement session at Pine Hollow Stables was a horse lovers dream. We spent the whole evening walking around the pasture and even visited the spot where they got engaged!
